Join on the first Saturday of each month for a special class taught by various instructors in the Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship. You'll start your morning with instruction from Richard Marsden, editor of the Benjamin Winnick translation of the Flower of Battle, who will review our club and show you some dagger plays from an especially brutal period in Italian history. After that you'll be exposed to a broad array of historical combat from several instructors in our club. Perhaps rapier, or longsword, or even armored pole axe!

Classes will include instruction, drilling, and breaks as needed. All safety gear will be provided from our club armory, so no need to worry about bringing your own gear.

Our goal during first Saturdays is to showcase our inclusive and supportive enviornment. We want to spark your passion and work with you as you learn and study whatever historical european martial art excites you.

When You Arrive

When you come to New Fighter Saturday please wear long and comfortable pants, as well as clean socks. We practice on cushioned mats and we try to baby them since there are aspects of this class that involve falling or controlled take-downs. We do recommend groin protection for gentlemen, and we're unable to provide this valuable form of personal protection.

If you have any questions, feel free to message us on our Facebook page at
