Fast Tracks To Historical Combat
The Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship is a welcoming club designed for everyone with an interest in history, swords, or just doing something to get healthy. We'll always welcome new fighters at any one of our classes, but we set aside the first Saturday of each month for new fighters. During our first Saturday sessions you'll get a comprehensive review of HEMA and what our club does. You'll start out learning basic dagger plays, and move on to more and more exotic weapons, giving you a taste of the history we study and how we study it.
This October join The Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship as we train you to be duel ready in just 30 days! This 5 class course will look at period sources from fencing masters who lived through some incredibly brutal times to understand the art of fencing with a wide variety of weapons. We'll take you through a tour of European weaponry but our instruction will focus on the longsword, a surprisingly quick weapon that was the go-to weapon for civil duel for over 200 years.
At the end of the course series you'll have the chance to cut targets with a real, sharp (and really sharp!) longsword. This course features group and one-on-one training from a wide variety of instructors including authors, tournament medalists, and internationally recognized experts.
Each class will take place the first 4 Saturdays from 10 AM - 1PM, starting October 3rd. Our series will culminate in our special Sunday cutting class on October 25th.
